Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables [heparan sulfate]-glucosamine 3-sulfotransferase 1 activity. Involved in glycosaminoglycan biosynthetic process and heparan sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process. Is active in Golgi apparatus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; appendicular skeleton; ear; hindlimb; and nervous system. Orthologous to human HS3ST1 (heparan sulfate-glucosamine 3-sulfotransferase 1). PHENOTYPE: Homozygous mutation of this gene results in embryonic growth retardation and death between postnatal days 2-3 when bred on a C57BL/6J background. Mice homozygous for this mutation on a 129 background are normal. [provided by MGI curators] |
