Primary Identifier | MGI:1335107 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 5 | NCBI Gene Number | 19159 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate binding activity. Acts upstream of or within establishment of epithelial cell polarity and positive regulation of cell adhesion. Located in several cellular components, including adherens junction; bicellular tight junction; and ruffle. Is expressed in brain. Orthologous to human CYTH3 (cytohesin 3). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a null allele do not develop overt diabetes but do show reduced insulin receptor signaling in liver and adipose tissue. Under aging conditions or a high-fat diet, homozygotes show decreased weight gain with a significant reduction of body fat due to increased lipid excretion. [provided by MGI curators] |
