Primary Identifier | MGI:1339973 | Organism | mouse, laboratory |
Chromosome | 9 | NCBI Gene Number | 16201 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Predicted to enable enzyme binding activity; nucleic acid binding activity; and virus receptor activity. Involved in negative regulation of translation; negative regulation of viral genome replication; and protein phosphorylation. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including central nervous system; genitourinary system; limb; olfactory epithelium; and retina. Orthologous to human ILF3 (interleukin enhancer binding factor 3). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele are born small and weak, show tachypnea and multi-organ apoptosis, and die neonatally due to neuromuscular respiratory failure. The diaphragm and other skeletal muscles show disorganization and paucity of myofibers, myocyte degeneration and elevated apoptosis. [provided by MGI curators] |
