Chromosome | 4 | NCBI Gene Number | 20301 |
Mgi Type | protein coding gene |
description | FUNCTION: Automated description from the Alliance of Genome Resources (Release 8.0.0) Enables chemokine activity. Involved in cell chemotaxis. Acts upstream of or within regulation of actin cytoskeleton organization. Predicted to be located in nucleus. Predicted to be active in extracellular space. Is expressed in several structures, including cerebral cortex; genitourinary system; hip; sensory organ; and skeleton. Orthologous to human CCL27 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 27). PHENOTYPE: Mice homozygous for a Ccl27a knock-out allele show only a slight alteration in the establishment of CCR10+ skin-resident lymphocytes. Mice with all Ccl27 genes knocked-out show impaired migration and localization of CCR10+ lymphocytes into skin, increased susceptibility to imiquimod-induced skin inflammation, increased infiltration of CCR10+ T cells into lungs and female reproductive tracts, and uterus inflammation.
