Recent studies suggested that ghrelin may play a role in processes associated with cancer progression, including cell proliferation, metastasis, apoptosis, and angiogenesis [].Two transcript variants of this receptor have been identified: GHS-R1a, the signal transduction form of the receptor and the biologically inactive GHS-R1b [].
