abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 1. New mutations and linkages. a. Mottled agouti-am-J. A remutation to mottled agouti (am) occurred in a B6C3HF1 male. This male was mistakenly believed to be non-agouti but close examination showed yellow ticking on the sides and cheeks. An allele test with at /am Fl mice mated to C57BL/6J (a/a) mice has given 57 am/a, 57 at/a and 0 a/a offspring. The mutation was from A ---> am and the symbol will be am-J. The gene generally produces a mottled coat in both the heterozygote and homozygote but it can range in color from almost extreme non-agouti with little ticking to full agouti with no mottling. As with the original am mutation the variation in coat color seems influenced by the genome of the dam. The mutation will be placed on a C57BL/6J background before going into our Frozen Embryo Repository. (Lane) |
