| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Cartilage matrix deficiency: The shortlimb, shorthead, cleft palate recessive mutant discovered in our BALB/cGaBc stock has proven to be an allele of cartilage matrix deficiency (cmd), and we therefore have provisionally named it cmdBc. Histological studies have shown our mutant to have deficiency of acid mucopolysaccharide in cartilage, and systemic excess of collagen-staining material. Lethality at birth in homozygotes was found to be due to asphyxiation secondary to hypoplastic lungs in a severely small thoracic cavity. We do not plan to maintain this mutant beyond summer, 1985, and anyone wishing to have it should contact us before then. |
