abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: New mutant 'Droopy-ear, de, (provisional name and symbol) is a new rcccssive found by Mr. J.H. Isaacsen. It arose spontaneously in an outbred stock and appeared later when the stock was inbred. Segregation ratios are good and homozygotes can be classified soon after birth. Homozygotes show a nunber of abnormalities: (a) the external auditory meatus is displaced a little in the vental direction and the pinna is extended more laterally than in the normal; (b) the line of demarkation between dorsal and ventral skin is displaced a little in the dorsal direction, best seen in at animals; ( c) they are deaf. A study of the anatomy and development, begun by Miss G.A. Curry, has shown (d) a general malformation of the skeleton, especially of the occipital and auditory regions and of the pectoral girdle. The occipital region is extended backwards and the auditory capsules face more ventrally. The tegmen tympani is absent. The scapulae are frequently perforated, and the acromion is very much reduced. The clavicle is lengthened. (D.S. Falconer).
