abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: P. W. Lane. New Mutants: 2. Swaying, symbol sw. A recessive mutation characterized by a locomotor abnormality similar to leaner, occurred in a mahogany- downless-J linkage cross in May 1966. The affected mouse never stands upright nor walks directly forward. It sways to one side or the other whenever it attempts to move and then pivots clockwise or counterclockwise around its rear legs. When in a pen it moves forward by leaning against the side of the pen. It swims poorly and tends to roll over. It shows no intention tremor and the placing response seems to be normal. To date 2 homozygous females have bred. It is not an allele of sg and the pathology is not like any known mutant. For a description of pathology see contribution from Harvard by R.L. Sidman.
