| abstractText | Full text of Mouse Genome contribution: Research News: 1. Remutations: ru5J. A remutation to ruby eye occurred in the Animal Resources colony of C57BL/6J-bg in 1992. Complementation crosses between a male homozygous for the novel mutation and a homozygous ru female from the inbred JE/Le strain produced 9 affected pups in a litter of 9. A second cross using the original C57BL/6J-bg/bg male parent mated to a ru/ru female (JE/Le) produced 3 affected pups in a litter of 5 showing that the sire was heterozygous for the ruby eye mutation. We were unable to produce further progeny on the C57BL/6J-bg background in order to preserve the mutation for either cryopreservation of embryos or DNA. (H.O. Sweet) |
