abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutants: Two new sex-linked mutants have been found amongst the offspring of irradiated parents. 1)Broad-headed (Bhd) was found amongst the first litter offspring of a female who had received 600R X-rays immediately before mating. The original mutant was a male who, on mating, gave 10 mutant females, with broad heads and noses similar to father, and 13 normal males. Bhd is not fully viable and no further Bhd males have yet lived to weaning. Crosses of Bhd + females to wild-type males show an excess rather than a shortage of Bhd + females: Bhd+/38 ++/21 BhdY/3 +Y/30 In linkage matings with Bhd+/+Ta females crossed to BloY, Bhd+ does look partially lethal in the female: it appears to be fairly close to Ta. Female offspring: Bhd+: 14; BhdTa: -; ++ -; +Ta: 31; Male offspring: Bhd+: 1; BhdTa: - ; ++: 1; +Ta: 19; The segregation variation in females is under investigation. |
