abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutants: 3. Clasper (cla). A new recessive neurological mutation that arose in BALB/cByJ in 1980 has been located on Chr 4. Homozygous clasper mice can be identified at 14 days of age by smaller size and a fine whole body tremor with clasping of both fore and hind feet when picked up by the tail. In the adult cla/cla, hind feet are held close to the body and frequently clasped together resulting in a hobbling type gait. The condition is not progressive nor does it improve. Both sexes are fertile. Data from two 3-point backcrosses with b and Pt show the order to be b--Pt--cla and data from these crosses combined with data from additional 2-point crosses give an RF between b and cla of 14.1 +/- 1.5 (77/545) and an RF between Pt and cla of 10.4 + 1.0 (94/901).
