abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: M.M. Dickie. New mutations: 3. Underwhite. Several light colored animals were observed in successive litters from a C57BL/6J the oldest born in December, 1962. Eye color in these deviants was a dark reddish color. The deviant offspring could be classified by lack of black eye pigment at time of birth. Tests with other known diluting genes d, p, b, ru, pa, si, ce, pe, bq, ep, tp, bf, gm, and ln were all negative. Breeding tests indicate this is a unit recessive gene. Crosses with A and at and spotting genes such as Wv and Miwh are almost impossible to classify because the coat color is so dilute. It is a light buff on top with a very white underfur. This mutation is called underwhite, and suggested symbol is uw. |
