| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research Note: A presumable t-mutation on chromosome Rb(4.17) 13Lub. Matings of a feral, normal-tailed male homozygous for eight Robertsonian chromosomes (Rb10Lub Ð Rb17Lub), with Th /+ and TOrl /+ females produced 73 normal-tailed and 70 tailless offspring. No young with shortened tail as in the Th /+ and TOrl/+ mothers were observed. In order to examine whether the T interacting gene is attributable to a t-mutation, the transmission of this gene in tailless animals was evaluated. Only 15 of 229 embryos or offspring from tailless males with +/+ females showed a shortened tail. This means that the T modifying gene causes segregational distortion. Both the t modifying effect and the segregation distortion support the assumption of a t-mutation. The designation tLub1 is proposed. Further investigations directed to determine the t-haplotype and the complementation group are going on in collaboration with J.L. Guenet, Institut Pasteur, Paris. (H. Winking, J.L. Guenet) |
