| abstractText | Research News: 1. New mutants and linkages. b. Tilted (tlt). This mutation was first reported in MNL 75:28. A three point backcross (Hm + +/+ tlt Wv x + tlt +/+ tlt +) has located tlt between Hm and Wv on Chr 5. The following 144 offspring, 54 Hm++, 56 + tlt Wv, 4 Hm tlt Wv, 3+ + +, 13 Hm + Wv, 11 + tlt +, 0 Hm tlt +, 3 + + Wv, give RF values of 6.9 +/- 2.1% between Hm and tlt, 21.5 +/- 3.4% between Hm and Wv and 18.8 +/- 3.3% between tlt and Wv. In addition a two point backcross (tlt +/+ Wv x tlt +/tlt +) in which 167 mice were raised (75 + Wv, 12 + +, 12 tlt Wv, and 68 tlt +) gives an RF value between tlt and Wv of 14.4%. These data combined with the three point data show an RF value of 16.4 +/- 2.1 between tlt and Wv. The order and RF values for the three loci are thus Hm-6.9-tlt-16.4-Wv. This mutation is now on a C57BL/6J background. It is being placed in our frozen embryo repository and will then be removed from the breeding colony. (Lane) |
