abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research Notes: Warfarin resistance and a new gene for obesity. Some 447 progeny have been bred from the backcross of a resistant F1 to the susceptible marker stock (MNL 51, 13). This shows there to be a major gene, War, close to the locus marked by frizzy, and a major gene for adult obesity and diabetes located at the Gv-2 end of chromosome 7. The symbol Ad is proposed for the latter. War is almost fully penetrant in females and imperfectly so in males; Ad is imperfectly penetrant in both sexes (at the age of warfarin-testing, 4 months), but penetrates better in males than in females. The recombination values (percent) estimated from the backcross data are: Ad---25--fr - <2 War --17- sh-1 -- 7 -- cch -- 15 - p where the order Ad - fr - War is indicated but not certainly discerned from Ad - War - fr. This places War relative to the c and p loci in the same position as the major warfarin resistance gene, Rw2, in the rat. (Wallace, MacSwiney). |
