abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 1. New mutants and linkages. a) Adrenocortical dysplasia (acd). This new recessive mutation with pleiotropic effects arose in the inbred DW/J strain in 1985. The mutant phenotype can be identified at birth by polydactyly of the rear feet and kinky tail. In the juvenile acd/acd, snout, ears, body, feet and tail are heavily pigmented. Vibrissae are short, and curly, hair growth is retarded and the hair is abnormal in texture. Kidney abnormalities are common. Few homozygotes have bred and none have lived beyond 6 months of age. Light microscopy shows the adrenals are highly dysplastic. Further characterization and mapping studies are in progress. This mutant will be available to other investigators once the collaborative studies are complete. (Sweet, W.G. Beamer, R.T. Bronson) |
