| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 2. Jackson waltzer (with M.S. Deol). A new recessive gene affecting behavior was found in C57BL/6J in 1961. The homozygotes have a marked tendency to run in circles. Head shaking is also present, but the sense of hearing is not affected. The abnormalities of the inner ear are quite unlike those of the other members of the shaker-waltzer group of mutants. The lateral semicircular canal and its crista are missing. In addition, the morphogenesis of the sacculus and utriculus may also be abnormal. It is proposed to call this gene Jackson Waltzer and suggested symbol is jv. M.C.Green |
