abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: The Fv-2 locus (J.N.C.I. 45: 163, 1970), linked to dilute in L.G. II with a r.f. of about 16%, has now been mapped more precisely by examining two crosses. Studies of (BALB/c-tk X C57BL/10Sn)F2 mice showed the following phenotypes at tk an Fv-2: + / Fv-2s: 170; + / Fv-2r: 105; total: 275. tk / Fv-2s: 40; tk / Fv-2r: 6; total: 46. Fv-2s total: 210; Fv-2r total: 6; all total: 321. Ignoring the segregation distortion in the data, the apparent r.f. in this repulsion cross is 30.8 +/- 5.0%. (Note, however, the highly significant deficit of tk homozygotes, as well as the somewhat less significant excess of Ef-2r homozygotes. It appears that tk is, or is linked to, a gene which is unfavourable to survival to weaning age in this cross). Studies of (D2.RB X AKR) X D2.RB backcross mice (D2.RB is a partially congenic DBA/2-Fv-2r strain) typed for dilute, Fv-2 and theta* produced the following map (N - 125): theta --24-- dilute --19-- Fv-2 -------------35------------- These data indicate that Fv-2 is on the Mod-1 and lu side of dilute, whereas theta is on the tk side of dilute in L.G. II. (F. Lilly). *now known as Thy-1 (Ed.) |
