| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 7. Petite (pet). In 1975 a recessive mutation occurred in the RF/J strain. The original deviant, a female, was noted to be abnormally small at 2 months of age. The average weight of the mutant mice at 4 weeks of age is 7.7 gm versus 20.2 gms for their normal sibs. A diet supplement containing thyroid powder, given for 4 weeks post weaning increases their weight to an average of 22 gm at which time they become fertile. Petite is not allelic with dwarf.
