abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: K. P. Hummel. New mutants: (with D. B. Chapman) Hypodactyly, suggested symbol Hd. Origin: strain MYA/Hu at F29. Inheritance: semi dominant lethal, fully penetrant. Manifestations: Heterozygotes are fully viable and fertile. They have shortened preaxial digits on hind feet, sometimes accompanied by a varied amount of webbing of digits 2, 3, and 4. The condition is easily distinguishable in newborns. Homozygotes are both hypo- and monodactylous, having a single short digit on each fore and hind foot. Hd/Hd mice are smaller and somewhat retarded in development compared to normal; they die neonatally or prior to 3 weeks of age of unknown causes. |
