abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Mutants: Sprawling, suggested symbol Swl, is a dominant behavioural mutation which arose in an irradiation experiment. Heterozygotes exhibit a characteristically abnormal pattern of hind-limb movements. The limbs are usually splayed out when at rest but perform a jerking vertical action during locomotion. Animals heterozygous for the mutation can be distinguished fairly consistently from the age of 6 days, when their hind-limb movements when picked up by the tail can be seen to be abnormal and a marked reduction in growth-rate becomes obvious. The homozygote is not known since no heterozygous male has yet bred. The mutant is being investigated further. (T. Morris). |
