abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New mutations and linkages: 1. Hair patches (Hpa)* is a dominant mutation that arose in a B6C3 hybrid stock in 1979. There is great variation in expression: some affected mice have a permanent coat of very little hair and extensive bare patches; others have an almost normal coat of hair with few bare patches. The homozygote, which can be identified only by breeding tests, shows variation similar to that of the heterozygote. The hair follicles are abnormal in the bare areas and the skin is littered with heavily pigmented debris. Both sexes are fertile. Early BC linkage data with b show 2 recombinants in 46 offspring placing Hpa about 4 units from b. (Lane) *Clashes with reserved symbol for haptoglobin alpha-chain; Hpt suggested (Ed.) |
