abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Mutants: Fused phalanges (symbol fp). Origin, strain C3HeB/FeHu; recessive, fully penetrant; both sexes fertile. Expression is limited to fusions of the three central digits of hind feet of all homozygotes and fore feet of about 50 per cent, and is easily identified neonatally. Fusions occur between phalanges of the second and third or the third and fourth digits; fusion of all three has not been noted. Involvement of third phalanges is usual, of second and first less frequent, and the pattern of fusions is seldom bilaterally symmetrical. Tests for linkage with hook (Hk) in group XVIII are negative, indicating that fp is not an allele of oligosyndactylism (Os). Other linkage tests are in progress. (Hummel and Chapman.) |
