molecularNote  An HPRT minigene cassette was inserted into exon 1 in sequences corresponding to the the signal peptide sequence. Transcripts from this allele were not detected in total liver RNA derived from homozygous mice and an in vitro clotting assay demonstrated that no functional fibrinogen protein was present in plasma derived from homozygous mice.
