molecularNote  The transgene was constructed using P1 5527, a 100 kb P1 bacteriophage library clone that overlapped the Shh open reading frame, extending ~10 Kb upstream and ~90 kb downstream from the translational start site. Two independent lines, each carrying 4-6 copies of the transgene and displaying similar phenotypes were created.
