molecularNote  The transgene consists of the human GFAP promoter fused to murine Beta-2 microglobulin, B2m. Six founders resulted from the microinjection of the GFAP-B2m construct into NOD/LtJ oocytes. Lines 9 and 14 were characterized further. Western blot analysis and histological analysis of brain, specifically astrocytes and pancreas, specifically the peri-islet Schwann cells, from transgenic animals confirmed transgene expression.
