molecularNote  A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 4 and an frt flanked neo cassette and second loxP site were inserted downstream of exon 5. Cre mediated recombination then removed exons 4 and 5 (encoding the kinase domain) and the neo cassette. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in homozygous embryos.
