| molecularNote | A targeting construct was made containing a mutated exon 5 of mouse nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) neuronal alpha3 subunit (alpha3[5]), and a loxP-flanked neomycin (neo) resistance cassette upstream of exon 5. This mutated alpha3[5] gene contained five altered nucleotides, Y184W, E187W, I188V, K189Y, and N191T, in the loop C region corresponding to residues from the alpha1 subunit of nAchR from Torpedo californica, the Pacific electric ray which conveys alpha-bungarotoxin (alphaBTX) sensitivity. Cre mediated recombination removed the neo cassette. |
