| abstractText | A gain and loss type of histocompatibility mutation was observed in an exchange and subsequent rejection of tailskin grafts between two male hybrids of the cross B10.M x B10.RIII (71NS). Upon further testing one of the two animals also rejected parental B10.M skin. Since both parents of the hybrid were congenic for the H-2 region with a common C57BL/10 genetic background, the loss of a parental B10.M antigen indicated a mutation in the H-2 region, specifically in the B10.M complex. The mutation is now fixed and coisogenic with B10.M. The proposed symbol for the mutant H-2 complex is H-2<sup>fb</sup> The line is being designated as B10.M - H-2<sup>fb</sup>. |
