abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Location of Triose phosphate isomerase-1, Tpi-1. Tpi-1 has been assigned to chromosome 6 using the technique of somatic cell hybridization (Leinwand et al. 1978 Somat. Cell Genet. 4:233; Minna et al. 1978 Somat. Cell Genet. 4:241). A genetically determined, low activity variant of red cell TPI has been found in a wild caught mouse; the mutant homozygote has about 30% of the activity found in C57BL/10 and the allele determining the low activity has been designated Tpi-1b. The finding of this low activity variant has enabled us to determine the position of the gene. Using the Harwell stock SIG which carries Sig, Lc, Miwh, and Tpi-1a, and a stock TPI which carries Tpi-1b, 137 progeny from the BC (SIG x TPI)F1 female x TPI male have been tested. The results are as follows: Sig; Lc; Miwh; TPI-1AB; Number: 38; +; +; +; TPI-1B; Number: 30; Sig; +; +; TPI-1B; Number: 21; +; Lc; Miwh; TPI-1AB; Number: 14; Sig; Lc; +; TPI-1B; Number: 3; +; +; Miwh; TPI-1AB; Number: 9; Sig; Lc; Miwh; TPI-1B; Number: 8; +; +; +; TPI-1AB; Number: 8; +; Lc; +; TPI-1B; Number: 1; +; Lc; Miwh; TPI-1B; Number: 2; Sig; Lc; +; TPI-1AB; Number: 1; +; +; Miwh; TPI-1B; Number: 1; +; Lc; +; TPI-1AB; Number: 1; The gene order with RF's is Sig - 28.1 +/- 3.8 - Lc - 11.5 +/- 2.7 - Miwh - 15.1 +/- 3.0 - Tpi-1.
