abstractText  The cDNA of type V/XI collagen alpha1 (rsCOL) chain has been isolated from cells established from eyed-period eggs of red seabream, Pagrus major, and sequenced. The amino acid sequence deduced from red seabream alpha1(V/XI) chain resembles that of type XI collagen alpha1 chain. On the other hand, tissue distribution of rsCOL resembles that of type V collagen based on RT-PCR analysis. This is the first report of the cloning of the full-length cDNA of type V/XI collagen alpha1 chain from fish.
