abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: The gene for the muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptor alpha subunit maps to chromosome 2, not chromosome 17. The gene for the alpha subunit of the muscle nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, Acra, previously assigned to mouse chromosome 17, failed to show linkage with several known chromosome 17 markers in an interspecific backcross between the inbred strain C57BL/6JRos and a stock of the wild-derived evolutionarily divergent mouse species Mus spretus. Instead, clear linkage was established between this molecularly defined locus and the agouti coat color marker (a) on chromosome 2. A three point analysis involving Acra, a, and the mouse catalase gene (Cas-1) in 68 backcross animals served to localize Acra to the central region of chromosome 2, about 10 cM proximal to Cas-1.
