abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: New Linkage: Ex - c. A/Cam and CBA/FaCam mice differ at the Ex locus. The doinant allele, found in the A mice, brings about earlier degeneration of the adrenal X-zone in female mice (MNL 40, 10; Gen. Comp. Endocrin., (1968), 11, 355). Studies on the A x CBA F2 which established an overall 3:l segregation for the alleles at this loci suggested a deficiency of C/Ex recombinants. Consequently, 104 white (cc) females of this F2 were screened for the presence of X-zone degeneration at the age of eight weeks. There were significantly fewer recombinants, 16/104, than expected. The observed values correspond to the recombination frequency of 39%. Thus the Ex locus lies on chromsome 1, possibly near the pudgy (pu) and dark (da) loci. The data described here were collected at the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge. (J.G.M. Shire). |
