abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 2. Mapping of fibronectin (Fn-1). The structural gene for mouse fibronectin (Fn-1) has been mapped to the centromeric region of chromosome 1 by RFLP analysis of backcross progeny from the mating (C57BL/6J-Sp/ + x AKR/J) F1 x AKR/J. The polymorphism was identified in BamHI-digested DNA as a 4.4 kb fragment (AKR/J and SJL/J) or a 3.8 kb fragment (A/J, BALB/cJ, C57BL/6J, C3H/HeJ, DBA/2J, NZB/BlnJ and SWR/J). A human fibronectin cDNA (Kornblihtt et al. EMBO J. 4:1755-1759) was used as probe. The gene order and map distances are as follows: Idh-1 - 5.9 +/- 2.0 - Len-1 - 4.4 +/- 1.7 - Fn-1 - 16.1 +/- 6.6 - Sp Alleles at the Idh-1, Len-1, and Fn-1 loi were typed in 135 backcross mice. The recombination value between Fn-1 and Sp was calculated from 31 backcross mice with the Splotch phenotype (Sp/+). Loren C. Skow (Texas A&M) and John M. Gardner (The Jackson Lab). |
