| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 6. A gene encoding a testosterone-induced esterolytic protease in the submaxillary gland has been located on Chromosome 7. The protease is active on tosyl arginine methyl ester (TAME) and has been designated Tam-1. Tam-1 is located between Gpi-1 and Hbb about 10 cM from Gpi-1. Two alleles have been identified with different electrophoretic mobilities. The allele carried by strain A/J has been designated Tam-la and the allele of strain DBA/2J as Tam-1b. Absence of Tam-1 activity in strain C57BL/6J may indicate a null third allele or separate regulatory element(s). (L. Skow and Taylor) |
