abstractText  The pseudoautosomal region (PAR) is a short region of sequence homology between the sex chromosomes and is involved in sex chromosome pairing, recombination and segregation in meiosis of the heterogametic sex. Genome features in the PAR region are assigned genetic chromosome XY, but obtain coordinates from assembly chromosome X or Y, respectively. Where there is sequence-confirmed equivalence between PARX and PARY genome features, MGI represents these features as PARX / PARY pairs, with shared gene nomenclature distinguished by an "x" or "y" suffix (Erdr1x / Erdr1y, for example). All PAR features can be retrieved by selecting chr XY on the MGI Marker Query Form (without entering coordinates), including a few legacy features in MGI that were mapped to the PAR but do not have genome coordinates. PAR features that have coordinates on the X or Y chromosome can be returned by chromosome-specific coordinate searches using coordinates for the PARX or PARY regions.
