| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 4. Position of neonatal anaemia (Nan) on chromosome 8. Neonatal anaemia (Nan) was previously reported to be closely linked to 0s on chr 8 (MNL 72: 107). Further data have been obtained in an attempt to locate Nan proximally or distally to 0s. From backcrosses of Nan+/+Os to wild-type the offspring were: from female het. Nan+, 20; +Os, 40; NanOs, 1; ++, 0; from male het. Nan+, 272; +0s, 309; NanOs, 3; ++, 0. This gives the R.F. (sexes combined) as 0.62 +/- 0.31%. Of the 4 NanOs recombinants, 3 occurred among the offspring of parents also carrying E-so, i.e. +Nan+/Os+E-so. Two were OsNan+/+++ and one OsNanE-so/+++. This means that the order shown, with Nan distal to Os, is more probable, but the alternative order Nan-Os-E-so is not excluded. (Lyon, Glenister) |
