| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Position of gyro (Gy) on the X-chromosome. The position of Gy has been tested by two-point repulsion backcrosses of Gy with Ta, Blo or Bn and three-point backcrosses of Bn ++/+ TaGy and Bn+Gy/ +Ta+. In every case there was evidence of viability interaction among the mutant male offspring and the penetrance of Gy among the female offspring was low. Therefore, to estimate recombination (in the two-point crosses) the wild-type male offspring were considered as a proportion of the total female offspring. This gave Gy-Ta, 31/296 or 20.9%; Gy-Blo, 14/114 or 24.6%; Gy-Bn, 44/240 or 36.7%. These data are consistent with the order Bn-Ta-Blo-Gy, and the absence of the postulated double crossovers from the three-point backcrosses confirmed this. (Lyon). |
