abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 10. alpha-glucosidase. An electrophoretically detectable polymorphism of alpha-glucosidase has been found in extracts of liver. The phenotype found in SM/J is of greater anodal mobility than that found in 13 other inbred strains and wild caught mice. Preliminary analysis suggests that the polymorphism is due to differences in the post-translational modification of the enzyme protein and is controlled by a processing gene on chromosome 17 closely linked to, and possibly identical with Apl. Work is continuing on the biochemical genetics of this enzyme. We suggest a provisional gene symbol Aglp (alpha-glucosidase processing). (Peters & D.M.
