abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: Research news: Localisation of the gene coding for the large mouse neurofilament subunit Nfh. The structural gene coding for the mouse neurofilament subunit (Nfh) was localized to a specific chromosome region by in situ hybridization technique using the rat pNF-H1 probe (Dautigny et al., Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 154: 1099-1106, 1988]. In the 100 metaphase cells examined after in situ hybridization, 182 silver grains were associated with chromosomes and 50 of these (27.4%) were located on chromosome 11; 90% of them mapped to the (A1-A5) region on chromosome 11 with a maximum in the 11A2 band (Fig. 1). The human NF-H gene has been assigned to the q121-q131 region of chromosome 22 [Mattei et al., Hum. Genet. 80: 293-295, 1988]. These data show that the homologous segment between human 22q and mouse 11 extends at least to the A2 band.
