| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: 3. Linkage data: Recombination between qkk2 and T. We determined the recombination frequency between T and qkk2 (Bode, Genetics 108: 457-470, 1984) using the following crosses: 1. tctkqk/tctkqk females X T+/+qkk2 males which produced 20 tctkqk/T+, 27 tctkqk/+qkk2, 0 tctkqk/Tqkk2, and 1 tctkqk/++ in a total of 48 offspring, and 2. +qk/tctkqk females X T+/+qkk2 males which produced 13 tctkqk/T+, 28 +qk/T+, 66 +qk/+qkk2 or tctkqk/+qkk2, 0 tctkqk/Tqkk2, 1 +qk/Tqkk2, and 4 +qk/++ or tctkqk/++ animals in a total of 112 offspring. Thus, we observed 6 recombinants in a total of 160 animals to give a recombination frequency of 4%. This is similar to the map distances reported for T to the original qk mutation (Bennett, MNL 50: 31, 1974; Southard, MNL 46: 31, 1972). (Justice and Bode) |
