abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: d. Belly spot and tail (Bst). Bst is a dominant mutation that maps to Chr 16 (Epstein, Immunogenetics 1986; 23:78-83). We have confirmed the location of Bst in a second cross with Sod-1. A total of 72 backcross offspring from Fl females in the cross Bst Sod-1a/ + Sod-1b x + Sod-1a/+ Sod-1a were classified as 30 Bst a, 26 + ab, 5 Bst ab, and 11 + a, giving a recombination estimate of 22.2 +/- 4.9%. A total of 60 backcross offspring from Fl males in the same cross were classified as 16 Bst a, 31 + ab, 6 Bst ab and 7 + a, giving a recombination estimate of 21.7 +/- 5.3%. The deficiencies of Bst mice in some classes are complementary when the data from females and males are combined and do not affect the combined estimate of 22.0 +/- 3.6%. (B. Harris, S.
