Electrophoretic Variants of PK and SOD-M: In a survey of biochemical variation among the original wild mice that founded my lab colony of M. domesticus from Giza, Egypt, I found electrophoretic variants from the common pattern for the muscle form of pyruvate kinase (E.C. 2.7.1.40) and the mitochondrial form of superoxide dismutase (E.C.1.15.1.1). I do not think that either gene has been mapped in the mouse. It is probably that these variants are still present in my lab colony. Within the limits of my time I will be happy to provide animals from this colony to anyone interested in studying these loci. |
