| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Research News: 3. In previous reports (Jour. Heredity 63: 212) no crossing over was obtained between velvet and caracul (Ve and Ca, linkage group VI) in 288 progeny. Since then a stock has been maintained with genotype NCa/Ve, which is effectively balanced lethal. One progeny has appeared which is simply Ve. This is interpreted to have resulted from a crossover between Ca and Ve, giving a wild-type gamete which matched with a Ve gamete. On this basis, the order of these markers must be N - Ca - Ve.
