abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Linkage tests. 1. Evaluation of the genetic distance between the dy locus and the centromere of chromosome 10. Rb8Bnr +/+ dy intercrosses gave the following offspring (phenotypes + karyotypes): 2 metacentrics - non dy (Rb +/Rb + or Rb dy): 6 1 metacentric - carriers (Rb +/+ dy or Rb dy/+ +): 12 1 metacentric - non carriers (Rb +/+ +): 1 0 metacentric - dystrophics (+ dy/+ dy) : 10 0 metacentric - non dystrophics (+ +/+ dy or + +): 3 dystrophics with 1 or 2 metacentrics (Rb dy/+ dy or Rb dy): 2 An accurate estimation of the distance would have required more extensive data as well as the determination of the distortion in the segregation ratio metacentric vs acrocentric in the female progenitor. These results indicate however that although dy is not tightly linked to the centromere of chromosome 10 (as cross-overs occur in non negligible proportions), the use of Rb (I1-10)8Bnr as a marker chromosome to recognize in utero homozygote dystrophics is a valuable method.
