abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Linkage data: 3. Position of translocation break in T(10;13)199H. Linkage matings of T199 +++/+bg sa pe female x +bg sa pe/+bg sa pe males have given the following offspring: T199+++, 16; +bg sa pe, 13; T199 bg sa pe, 1; +++, 3: +bg++, 1; T199++ pe, 11; +bg sa+, 12; T199 bg sa+, 3; +++pe, 3; T199 bg++, 1. This seems to indicate that the order of loci is as shown with recombinations T199-bg 17.2 +/- 4.7; bg-sa, 3.1 +/- 2.2; sa-pe, 45.3 +/- 6.2%. This agrees with the findings of Dev et al., (Cytogenetics 1974) that the translocation break in T199 is in or near the centromeric heterochromatin of chr 13. It is interesting that bg shows recombination with the break in this case, whereas in Rb(11.13)4Bnr Cattanach (MNL 49:30; Cytogenetics 11: 412) reports no crossing-over between Xt or bg and the centromere. This suggests crossover-suppression in the centromeric region of Rb4Bnr. (Lyon and Glenister) |
