| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: T.H. Roderick. Eserine resistant plasma esterase (with F. H. Ruddle, Yale University) R.A. Popp showed that Es-1 is closely linked with Os in linkage group XVIII (J. Hered. 56:107-108, 1965). To confirm our suspicions that Es-4 was identical to Es-1 we made the cross + Es-4a/+Es-4a x Os Es-4b/+ Es-4a and observed one recombinant in 147 progeny tested. This is a recombination frequency of 0.68 +/- 0.678%, a value not significantly different from Popp's 2%. We feel from this and other similarities of these genes (Genetics 54:191-202, 1966) that their identity is established. The designation Es-4 is therefore to be dropped in favor of Es-1 which has priority. The allelic designation stays the same, i.e. Es-4a = Es-1a, and Es-4b = Es-1b. Importation.
