abstractText  Full text of MNL contribution: Linkage data. 2. Location of G6pd. The low activity glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase mutant found by D. J. Charles and W. Pretsch, Neuherberg, has been used to position G6pd on the X-chromosome. Linkage tests have been carried out with both Hq and Ta. Crosses of +G6pd/ Hq+ females x ++Y males produced 17 +G6pd females, 17 Hq+ females, 23 +G6pd Y males, 26 Hq+Y males, 2 ++/++ females, 1 ++Y male and 1 HqG6pd male; Total = 87. There are fewer females than males because the range of enzyme activities found in G6pd/+ females and +/+ females overlap, so some females could not be classified with certainty and were excluded. The R.F. for Hq-G6Pd is 4.60 +/- 2.25%. Equivalent crosses using Ta produced 36 G6pd+ females, 29 +Ta females 54 G6pd+Y males, 37 +TaY males, 2 G6pd Ta/++ females, 4 ++/++ females, 2 G6pd Ta Y males and 2 ++Y; Total = 166. As with Hq there are fewer females than males. There is a1so a deficiency of Ta, x<2> = 4.07 1 d.f. P = 0.044. These data give a G6pd-Ta R.F. of 6.02 +/- 1.85. These data suggest a gene order Hq-G6pd-Ta . A three point test is in progress with both Hq and Ta. Thus, G6pd is located proximally on the X-chromosome, as is Hprt, whereas in man the homologous loci are situated in the distal part of the long arm. (Peters and Ball)
