| abstractText | Full text of MNL contribution: Chr 3. 1. Assignment of LG XVI to Chr 3. In MNL 56:42 we reported that the centromere of Chr 12 mapped at the ma end of LG XVI. This was based on the first 30 offspring from the cross + ma +/+ ma X Rb5Bnr + +/+ ma Va. Results from 125 offspring from this cross gave a recombination estimate of 45.6 +/- 4.5 between Rb5 and ma and 48.8 +/- 4.5 between Rb5 and Va. We conclude from these results that LG XVI is not carried on Chr 12. The most logical chromosome to carry LG XVI appeared to be Chr 3. Matings were made such that backcross offspring would be produced from Fl parents segregating for Va and T(2;3)24H. No recombinants out of 17 backcross offspring have been recovered. We conclude that LG XVI is carried on Chr 3. Further matings have been established to clarify the order of LG XVI loci relative to the centromere of Chr 3. (Eicher) |
